Fortnite Chapter 4 Series 3 begins today, and as always, rumours abound as to what Epic Games has in store with its latest update to the battle-royale game.
Chapter 4 Season 2 brought us the Star Wars event, and Transformers could be the next franchise to make the crossover, while Epic has also given us a few hints as to how the new map will look.
This will be the first full series with Ranked battles, which were introduced last month and allow players to truly judge their abilities against others for the first time.
What time does Fortnite Chapter 4 Series 3 start?
Fortnite Chapter 4 Series 3 will go live on Friday 9 June.
Chapter 4 Series 2 ended at 7am UK time, and the game has currently gone down while the update is prepared.
The Fortnite Status Twitter account posted at 7am: “We’re beginning to disable matchmaking in preparation for the v25.00 #FortniteWILDS update, with server downtime beginning soon. We’ll let you know when downtime has ended!”
If this new series follows previous patterns – and there is nothing to suggest it won’t – then Chapter 4 Series 3 should go live sometime in the early afternoon.
No event has been announced for the new series, so players will be jumping right into the action.
What can we expect from the new series?
We know that Chapter 4 Series 3 is officially called Fortnite Wilds, as Epic Games dropped an eight-second teaser revealing the name on Monday, and another short trailer the following day.
It shows that the series will be played out in a “wild” environment, with a ruined temple-like building likely to play an important role.
“Cracked, but not broken. Overgrown, but not forbidden. Lost, but not forgotten. What lies underneath the surface?” the trailer asks, implying that there could be some underground action this season.
Leakers have suggested that grind rails will be turned into vines, and that the tropical setting we see in the trailer may only be a section of the map, with others biomes making up the rest. A volcano and a desert have been rumoured.
More rumours have suggested that a racing mode could be added to the game, and that there could be rideable raptors dotted around the map.
Four new characters have been announced, called Lorenzo, Trace, Rian and Era, with their aesthetics all very much tying into the wild theme.
But the most hype has been centred around the Transformers collaboration, with an Optimus Prime skin possibly coming to the game.
