Fantasy football: 50 best funny team names to give you FPL inspiration ahead of the 2023-24 season

If team name inspo is what you are after, thankfully you’ve come to the right place

Fantasy Premier League has relaunched ahead of the 2023-24 season giving managers the opportunity to assemble their first team drafts – and pick a killer team name – ahead of Gameweek 1 on Friday 11 August.

The headline news from the launch is that Erling Haaland will now set you back £14m in FPL currency after finishing top of the leaderboard in his debut campaign, while Mo Salah, the game’s dethroned king, has dropped slightly in price to £12.5m.

The decision-makers at FPL towers have been generous with their pricing this year as only four players are valued at over £9.5m – Haaland (£14m), Salah (£12.5m), Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m). At the other end of the spectrum, there are a few budget gems at newly-promoted clubs, including a handful of £4m starting defenders.

But with the transfer window only just starting to gather momentum, now is not the time to delve too forensically into the game itself; this is the point in the summer to carefully decide what to name your future team, rather than debate over which Arsenal midfielder to sign or whether to start off with three or four at the back.

If team name inspo is what you are after, thankfully you’ve come to the right place…
